ÿþ Alumindo to Increase Exports (Trade and Investment News, 20 June 2006)

Indonesia's largest aluminum supplier, PT Alumindo Light Metal Industry, will increase exports of aluminum products due to robust demand, a company official said on Wednesday (14/6/06).
The company is exporting an average of 6,000 tons of aluminum products a month, up from an average of 5,000 in 2005, Alumindo executive managing director, Alim Satria, said, according to Reuters. "We expect exports to reach 8,000 tons a month by September and 9,000 tons a month by the end of this year," Satria told reporters. He did not give a forecast for annual 2006 exports.
In 2005, the company sold 52,422 tons of aluminum sheet and foil, up 4.87% from 49,986 tons in 2004. Exports made up 53% of Alumindo's total sales in 2005. From January to April this year, the company exported 19,222 tons of aluminum sheet and foil to Australia, the Middle East, Asian countries and the United States.
Satria said the company plans to invest $100 million until the end of the year to expand its production capacity, which stands at 84,000 tons of aluminum sheet and 15,600 tons of aluminum foil a year.
In the first four months of the year, Alumindo's sales revenue was Rp557.3 billion ($58.68 million), up 13% from Rp493 billion in the same period last year. The company booked sales revenue of Rp1.36 trillion in 2005, a 2.62% increase from Rp1.33 trillion in 2004.
Alumindo, a subsidiary of local household appliance company PT Maspion Group, was established in 1978, but began operations in 1983.
